Service & Outreach
At Our Lady of the Assumption School, we believe that faith is meant to be lived, not just learned.
Service is an essential part of the OLA experience, shaping students into compassionate, thoughtful individuals who understand the importance of caring for others. Rooted in Gospel values, our approach to service encourages students to look beyond themselves, recognize the needs of others, and take meaningful action.
Throughout the year, students participate in a wide range of service and outreach opportunities that foster empathy, responsibility, and a genuine spirit of giving.
Living Our Faith Through Service
Each month, our school community comes together for service-driven initiatives that make a real impact, both locally and beyond. These monthly community drives provide students with consistent opportunities to engage in acts of kindness and generosity.
Students help prepare donations and support efforts that feed those experiencing homelessness, including outreach to organizations like My Brother's Table in Lynn. Through these efforts, students begin to understand the power of community and the importance of supporting those in need.
They also take part in meaningful, hands-on projects such as writing letters to service members, creating birthday cards for residents in local nursing homes, and collecting coats and essential items for neighbors who are less fortunate. These simple yet powerful acts of kindness help students see that even small gestures can make a lasting difference in someone’s life.
Building Compassion and Character
Service at OLA is thoughtfully integrated into the student experience in age-appropriate ways, allowing every child to participate, reflect, and grow. Whether working as a class, a grade, or as an entire school community, students are encouraged to understand why service matters—not just what they are doing.
These experiences foster a deeper sense of empathy and help students develop a lifelong commitment to helping others. They learn that service is not a one-time act, but a way of life.
A Community United in Purpose
Our service initiatives also strengthen the bonds within our school community. Students, families, and faculty come together with a shared purpose—living out our faith through action and making a positive impact in the world around us.
At OLA, we are proud to nurture students who not only excel academically, but who lead with kindness, act with compassion, and carry a strong sense of responsibility for others. Because when students learn to serve, they learn to lead.
