Faith
At Our Lady of the Assumption, we strive to help our students to discover their unique gifts and to teach them to use these gifts for their own success, to lead others by their example, to inspire others by their behavior and activity, to follow the path of truth and of the Gospel.
These gifts are the foundation of our school and are the driving force behind our faculty and staff as they commit themselves to help each student grow intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, physically and morally.
At OLA, we focus on key character traits each month to motivate our students to reinforce and reflect on fundamentals such as effort, respect, trustworthiness, and acceptance.

School Mass
Our students in Kindergarten through 8th grade attend Mass throughout the school year for Holy Days of Obligation, as well as for scheduled prayer services. All are welcome - Please join us!
Stations of the Cross
Each year the 8th Grade class presents the living Stations of the Cross to our school and parish community.
In this re-enactment of the suffering, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, the students get a better understanding of Jesus' mission: “the Saving Truth” that “God so loved the world that He gave his only Son” John 3:16.
First Holy Communion
Our Second Graders receive the Sacrament of Holy First Communion each year in May. The students learn about and prepare for this important sacrament in class, as well as practicing in Church in the weeks leading up to this special day.
Confirmation
We are very excited that this year 2024-2025 our eighth graders will be receiving their confirmation in May. They will prepare for their sacrament through their religious studies this year and a retreat in April.
May Procession
Each year our faculty and students process from the school to the church with our 8th grade carrying the statue of Mary honoring the Virgin Mary as "the Queen of May", followed by the crowning. Each student brings in a flower to make a class bouquet that is then presented at the ceremony.
Catholic Schools Week
National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week. The theme for the National Catholic Schools Week is Catholic Schools: Faith, Excellence, Service.
OLA observes the annual celebration week with Mass, open house and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members. Through these events, schools focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our church, our communities, and our nation.
