Mid-Year Parent Meeting 1/29/19

Dear OLA Parents,

      On behalf of our pastor Fr. Paul Ritt, finance director Francis Burke, and the members of our school advisory board, we wish to inform you of our decision to raise tuition in the upcoming 2019-20 school year.

Our re-enrollment process begins this week, and we realize a tuition increase may be unwelcome news to families who place their trust in Our Lady of the Assumption by sending your children to our school. However, the costs of educating each child continue to rise and outpace the income we receive at the current tuition levels. Rising fixed costs have combined with the rising cost of keeping fully staffed to create a budget deficit. The solution is a combination of growing enrollment, finding new means of fundraising, and, unfortunately, increasing tuition. Our Lady of the Assumption School last raised tuition prior to the 2015-16 school year. We have elected to do so at this time only after very careful consideration of the future of the school. In addition to our commitment to your child’s education, we also pledge to control costs through careful financial management.

The parish finance office in collaboration with the O.L.A. school administration and advisory board has established the tuition and fee schedule for the 2019-20 school year:

Preschool Half Days                        $5,820
Preschool/PreK (4 Full Days)      $6,680
Preschool/PreK (5 Full Days)      $7,350
Kindergarten – 8th Grade             $6,375

We have worked very hard to limit the increases only to that which is necessary to close the budget deficit while maintaining the quality of Our Lady of the Assumption School. To lessen the blow, we will continue to offer competitive family plans with reduced tuition for second and third children, financial incentives for early registration and payments, and generous referral rewards to those who help us find new families. The most effective way you can contribute to the financial health of the school and keep tuition low is to help us grow enrollment. Our New Family Referral Program awards a $500 tuition incentive if you refer a family who enrolls students in our 5 full-day Pre-K through Grade 8. We’re certain our current families are the most effective ambassadors and promoters of Our Lady of the Assumption School and its mission.

The Parish office, the school administration, and the faculty are committed to honoring the trust you place in us every day. We will continue to provide a rigorous Catholic School education for all students, competitive athletics program, a variety of extracurricular activities, and a community that stresses faith, integrity, and kindness. We believe strongly in our committed, talented, and veteran staff and the excellent education and character foundation available at O.L.A.
